New York Real Estate License Requirements
All New York real estate license applicants are required to meet the requirements of the NYS Division of Licensing before being eligible to receive their real estate license. The requirements include extensive education and examination criteria designed to better prepare applicants for the current laws and regulations that govern real estate agents in New York. Below you will find a complete list of these licensing requirements.
All New York applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Complete a 75 hour pre-license course in a state approved real estate training program.
- Complete and submit an application for licensing with the State. Applications are filed through the eAccessNY online system.
- Pass the New York real estate exam.
Currently, there is a $50 application fee for all applicants in addition to a $15 examination fee.
New York Real Estate Exam Information
The State of New York currently manages examination scheduling through their eAccessNY system. Applicants will be given 1.5 hours to complete the examination and must answer at least 70 percent of the questions correctly to receive a passing grade. Applicants interested in obtaining their New York real estate license by reciprocity must satisfy the following to be eligible:
- Have an active and current license in an issuing state from the list above.
- Provide a certificate of licensure from the state you are currently licensed in.
- Complete and submit a license application.
- Complete and submit an irrevocable consent form(Available in the form section below).
- Pay all applicable licensing fees.
